My Story
I started Aikido training at age 46. It was pure joy! I would clap my hands in joy and stop the class - unwittingly using the signal my Sensei uses to stop training and teach. I discovered a kinder relationship with my body and through aikido forms, a different way to express presence, flow and power.
I changed life paths at age 50. Inspired by the daily example of my Mother struggling with balance, stamina and mobility as she lived with MS. I fell in love with somatic practices, particularly Being in Movement and Feldenkrais, that offered practical and profound ways to use movement as a way to discover yourself. I am motivated to make new possibilities visible and viable through somatic practice - the intersection of movement, mind-body relationship and responsive self-care.
Before choosing this path, I experienced stiffness and reduced mobility from long days sitting at a desk job, ignoring the signals my body sent until I couldn't move. I exercised but I didn't live consciously in my body. One of the cherished gifts of my path is the sensitive relationship I have developed to bring my mind back into my body,
My work combines richness gleaned from aikido, Tai Chi, Feldenkrais, Being-in-Movement and Integral Coaching to support my clients to cultivate personal resources to meet the challenge of each moment.
